Amid the investigation surrounding Jeffrey Epstein for sexual abuse charges, DOL Secretary Alexander Acosta resigns from his position as head of the Labor department. Acosta is under scrutiny for the way he handled a sexual abuse case against Epstein in 2007 when he was the U.S. attorney for southern Florida. His resignation takes effect July 19, 2019 and Deputy Labor Secretary Patrick Pizzella will lead the department on an acting basis.
